Georgia State has awarded six new proposed research clusters with new faculty hires in the third round of the university’s Second Century Initiative. The six new research clusters include Breaking the Glass Ceiling of Achievement for Children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Microbial Pathogenesis, Neuroethics, Portfolios of the Atlanta Poor, Shaping the Future of Cities, and Therapeutics.

Georgia State has awarded eight new proposed research clusters with new faculty hires in the second round of the university’s Second Century Initiative. The eight new research clusters include the Atlanta Census Research Data Center;Eliminating Health Disparities for Individuals with Development Disabilities; Exploring and Testing Strategies for Obesity Reversal; Health Information Technology; Neurogenomics; Primate Social Cognition, Evolution and Behavior; Stellar Astrophysics; and Trans-cultural Conflict and Violence.

Georgia State will recruit new faculty in eight target areas in the first round of a five year hiring initiative. Faculty members and deans submitted 56 proposals to recruit clusters of faculty around defined themes and individual high impact hires with demonstrated capabilities in scholarship. The eight winning proposals and areas of focus include diagnostics, neuroimaging, evidence-based policy, law, media and ethics, new media, Chinese language and culture, bioinformatics, and health justice.
